Jobless claims drop by 1,700 in California

California saw a significant decrease in new jobless claims of 1,757.

The number of people filing new jobless claims across the country dropped by 12,000 to 365,000 from the previous week?s revised figure of 377,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. California saw a significant decrease in new claims.

The four-week moving average was 371,250, or a small increase of 250 from the previous week.

The number of people claiming unemployment benefits was 5,467,752, or a drop of 63,076 from the previous week.

California saw the largest decrease in new claims of 1,757, followed by Pennsylvania (1,273), Michigan (1,203), Florida (844) and South Carolina (787).

States reporting significant new claims: New York (3,110), North Carolina (1,237), Georgia (1,039), Massachusetts (731) and Ohio.
