Reflections On Being A Real Estate Agent. ? Living Room Realtors

I hear people complain about their jobs a lot, and while I at times find being a real estate agent very stressful, ultimately I love it. ?And I don?t love it because of the freedom of the 9-5 hours (because sometimes I work 6am-midnight), or for the money (it ebbs and flows), I love it because I believe in what I am doing. ?I truly think that owning property makes sense. ?Not only is it real and tangible (unlike the stock market which I cannot wrap my brain around) I think that it adds to our community, and I think that it adds to us as humans. ?It is the ?American Dream?. ?Home ownership is deeply rooted in our psyche and it still makes sense because?

  • If you own it you care. ?It is a fact that homeowners are more involved in their community, are more likely to vote, and are more likely to improve their homes.
  • Your kids (if you have them) benefit. ?Studies suggest that home ownership boosts your child?s test scores and overall sense of well being.
  • Its a great investment for retirement. ?Overall buying a house acts as a giant piggy bank, plus there are a ton of tax benefits.
  • Reflects you as an individual. ?Your space/home says a lot about you, you want to paint your house zebra striped? ?you cannot do that if you rent but if it is yours you don?t even have to ask, (unless you live in a home with CC&R?s OOPS).

Also my job has the added bonus of being unpredictable, which I like. ?I never know if I will find a secret passage way while searching an old house, see the most purple carpet ever created, or stumble across the most beautiful wall paper I have ever seen. ?I don?t know if our deal will go through or fall apart at the bitter end. ?I didn?t know you had such a wicked sense of humor until we spent weeks looking at houses together. ?I didn?t know, but now I do and I love you, and Portland better because of it! ?If you are interested in learning more about home ownership or you want me to see your sense of humor in action, call me, 503-933-6538.
